The letter below was sent out by Watson, to all apartment owners, on the 22nd December 2025:

"A Personal Emergency Evacuation Plan (PEEP) is used to document how people will be evacuated when they have difficulty responding to a fire alarm or escaping from a building unaided, in the event of an emergency.

A Personal Emergency Evacuation Plan, is required for anyone who may need assistance to evacuate the building in the event of an emergency, not in everyday circumstances.

If you or anyone person living with you has a disability and would have difficulty responding to a fire alarm or escaping from a building unaided, you will require a PEEP.

Your Personal Emergency Evacuation Plan will include the following:

  • Identify areas of safety/refuge.
  • Determine safe routes to a place of safety.
  • Name anyone appointed to assist the person in an emergency.
  • List specialist equipment that may be necessary.
  • Detail when and how escape practises will take place.

To cover all eventualities, the plan should detail all the options for a safe escape. This may or may not require the provision of a safe refuge* as an interim place of safety.

The Personal Emergency Evacuation Plan will be completed by collaboration of Watson and a competent responsible person, upon receipt of the above information.

You do not need to provide any personal medical information, but we need to be able to provide your PEEP to the fire service in the event of a fire."
